Full Description
The road is centred at TR 0936 2834, and extends for approximately 262m south-east to north-west. It comprises of two parallel strips of road for the first 160m leading north-westwards. The two parallel strips then split to form the perimeter of a square area, before meeting up again on the other side. The road then continues north-westwards for another 55m. Light coloured mounds clustered around the ends of the road have been interpreted as spoil heaps from the construction of the road, or mounds of road-building materials. A Second World War bomb crater of six metres in diameter is visible as a hollow in the southern corner of the square area enclosed by the two strips of road. This road was presumably intended for a housing development that may have stalled due to the onset of the Second World War. This area was subsequently developed for housing, but on a slightly different layout. The site of this road now lies beneath The Fairway, St Marys Gardens, and Winton Way (1-2).
