Summary

Ewell Manor was demolished in 1967. It was originally built in the 17th century and enlarged in the 19th century with a new North wing and Westerly entrance. The extent of the 19th century grounds is marked by the linear shrubbery along the eastern boundary. The associated parklands and ponds have undergone various changes over time. The largest pond was created by 1844 at the latest and had been enlarged before the 1870 OS map. Smaller ponds were created in the 20th century. A cottage and stables, now known as The Bothy, were built by 1870. The Bothy, cart lodge and brick-built stock shed are still standing, together with a barn which has a thatched roof.The outbuildings all date to the 19th century.

Full Description

Ewell Manor demolished in 1967. Originally built in the C17th with associated barns, stables and malting house.

Enlarged in the C19th with a new North wing and Westerly entrance. Various alterations to the grounds in the 19th and 20th centuries.

C19th kitchen garden and outbuildings.

What is now 'The Bothy' were once stables associated with the manor house. Stables and cottage built by 1870.

The extent of the C19th grounds are still defined by the linear shubbery along the Eastern boundary.

There is also an associated parkland with woodland and ponds which have undergone various changes. The larger pond being created (by 1844 at the latest) and enlarged in the C19th (somtime before the OS oof 1870). Smaller ponds created in the C20th.

The bothy, cart lodge and stock shed (built in brick), are still standing, along with a large barn with a thatched roof (built in the early C19th).

The Outbuildings date to the C19th. (1)

In 2011 Swale and Thames Archaeological Survey Company carried out an evaluation. The foundations of the manor house were found. (2) In 2014 A building record was created of the associated farm buildings recording their conditions (3).
