Building record TR 26 NW 1118 - Second World War pillbox in field overlooking railway, Prospect Corner, Reculver, Herne Bay

A Type 24 pillbox survives in a field at Prospect Corner, cut into a slope overlooking the railway cutting to the north. This was pillbox No.9 in the 1940 list of pillboxes in East Kent (2 December); it was in Sector 7 of the area, at the stated Military Grid reference R 660858. It would have served to prevent enemy tanks from cruising up the railway towards London.
