Summary
This is a heavily used airfield and was once a Second World War Advanced Landing Ground. It is home to the Tiger Club, many private aircraft and the Lashenden Air Warfare Museum which has the only working Pickett/Hamilton Turret in the country.

Full Description
Aviation first came to Headcorn in 1927 when a local enthusiast began to fly here. In 1942, following the outbreak of the Second World War the site was requisitioned and used as a fighter station. Spitfires of 403 and 421 squadrons flew from Headcorn from August 1943 for a brief period before the site was upgraded to be used by the US Air Force. In April 1944 the airfield was taken over by the 100th Fighter Wing 19th Tactical Air Command 9th Air Force flying P51B Mustangs. At the end of the war the airfield closed but was reopened in the 1950s as a private airfield. The site now houses small aviation companies and the Lashenden Air Warfare Museum.
