Abstract/Summary
A geoarchaeological assessment undertaken prior to the sites development to clarify the deposit sequence and assess the level of preservation of palaeoenvironmentl remains. The base deposits were pleistocene gravels laid down in fast flowing water c. 18-15,000 BP. These were overlain by late glacial sands and clays (15-10,000 BP). Sampling demonstrated good survival of invertebrates. The north of the site contained peat (11,000 BP) with moderate pollen preservation.
