Abstract/Summary
Wessex Archaeology was commissioned by South East Water to carry out a programme of archaeological monitoring and recording during the construction of the proposed Burham to Hythe and Ditton Mains Water Scheme.
The results obtained from initial investigations at Area A would appear to be of regional archaeological interest. It is apparent that there is very little of the (Roman) structural remains preserved and what does remain is unlikely to add significantly to any detailed understanding of the period or monument type. Whilst it is likely that the deposits are related to the (Scheduled Monument) villa complex it would seem that they are too far away to directly link the building itself.
