Abstract/Summary
This Combined Design and Access and Heritage Statement has been prepared in
support of an application for Listed Building Consent to undertake enabling works upon
the Prince of Wales Pier (the Pier) within the Port of Dover. This document describes the
architectural and historic importance (value) of the Pier structure and examines how its
importance contributes to the heritage significance of the structure itself, as well as how
its setting contributes to its heritage significance and to the wider setting of Dover
Harbour. The document concludes with an assessment of the level of impact the
proposed enabling works may have upon the architectural importance and historic
significance of the structure and the proposed mitigation measures required to reduce
any such impacts.
