Abstract/Summary
Report on an archaeological evaluation carried out by Archaeology South-East at 26 Week Street, Maidstone. There were no intact buried soil horizons and no associated finds. The watching brief uncovered evidence of 14 walls that were part of an old cellar, since backfilled with various made ground and demolition deposits. Based on brick samples recovered from site, these walls generally dated to the 19th and 20th centuries. One brick sample recovered was dated potentially to the 17th century but these bricks may have been used in later construction.
