Abstract/Summary
AA81/01510 Detail of spur wheel in Union Windmill This spur wheel forms part of the machinery at the Union Windmill in Cranbrook. This picture was taken in 1940 and today much of the machinery and two of the original three pairs of millstones are still in place.
AA81/01517 A view towards Union Windmill Kent's most famous windmill, and at 22m the tallest in the country, is landmark visible for miles around the town and was built in 1814. Standby power was provided by a steam engine in 1863, a gas engine in 1919 and an electric motor in 1954. It is still in working order and is open to the public.
