The archaeological evaluation at St Mildred’s Tannery, Canterbury, conducted in 2001, involved the excavation of 27 trenches and several sondages. The investigation revealed well-preserved Roman buildings, roads, and metalled surfaces, along with Anglo-Saxon and medieval features including timber trackways and floor deposits. Excavation methods included machine-dug trenches under archaeological supervision, with manual cleaning and recording where possible. Environmental samples were taken from waterlogged deposits, and artefacts included Roman pottery, building materials, and medieval ceramics.
