Twenty trenches were mechanically excavated before development to extend site for use as a detention Centre for the Immigration Service. An east-west aligned dith of post-med date was observed in three trenches. A series of undated pits containing burnt fills, a hearth of possible prehistoric date and a probable modern posthole were also recorded.
