Description

ST NICHOLAS AT WADE POTTEN STREET TR 26 NE (south side) 1/97 Outbuilding about 20 metres south of Chambers Wall Farmhouse II Possible former chapel, sometime house, now outhouse.C15 or earlier. Chalk and flint, roughcast, part only exposed on rear elevation which is also timber framed and clad with corrugated iron. Corrugated iron roof. One storey, with corbelled jettied upper section, and raking flat roof. Wooden casement to left and boarded door to centre. Interior: single chamber; chalk block and flint chequer walls, with pointed arch recess on north wall. Chamfered splays to windows in west and north walls and to door. Inserted fireplace in north-east corner. Rear wall with close-studding. Previously described as 2 storey timber framed building with continuous jetty and hipped tiled roof. The upper storey since removed. Listing NGR: TR2498767469
