Description

LEIGH LEIGH 1, 5280 High street (North Side) South View TQ 5446 19/665 II GV 2. Third quarter of Cl9 by George Devey. Tudor style, irregular form. High pitched tiled roof with tall red brick chimneys. Decorative half timbered walls with roughcast filling. Red brick plinth rising to ground floor cills. Narrow end to road of 1 storey and attic, 1 window under wide, overhanging gable with carved beams. Similar and tallergable, with double overhang, on right return. Carved bargeboards, visible beam ends to overhangs. 4 and 5-light wood mullioned windows, some in square bays. On left return 2 1st floor oriel bays and recessed entrance. South View, Nos 1 to 7 (consec) (Forge square), The Old Forge and Forge Cottage form a group. Listing NGR: TQ5492346582
