The 'Invicta' engine                                               set on plinth TR 1457 SE 8/477

2. Designed and constructed by George Stephenson, this engine was entered as No 12 - the Rocket being No 11.  On May 3rd l830 it drew the first train on the Canterbury and Whitstable Railway.  The engine is set on standard gauge lines on a cement plinth.
