Monument record TR 02 SW 197 - Five spreads of worked flint, Lydd Quarry (Lydd 17)

Summary

Two discrete scatters of worked and fire-cracked flint (Spreads [86] and [98]) were perhaps Bronze Age in origin. The material was likely to be broadly in situ, and probably represented opportunistic knapping events perhaps associated with movement along the shingle ridges or temporary hunting camps. Many similar features have been recorded during previous work at Lydd Quarry. Two were found on the surface of a shingle ridge in Area G and one non-discrete scatter on the surface of a shingle outcrop in Area E [210].
