Monument record TR 02 SW 198 - A natural creek containing a large dump deposit of mixed material, Lydd Quarry (Lydd 17)

Summary

A broad sinuous natural creek or channel [398] ran SE-NW the length of the site. A large dump deposit of mixed material [407] lay within the channel and contained 19th- to 20th-century metalwork and pottery, together with residual medieval and post-medieval material. Context [407] was probably intended to create a level bridging point across the old creek bed. It is likely that the dumped material derived from nearby Scotney Court Farm (pers. comm. Simon Ashworth)".
