Full Description

Romano-British finds and features were recorded in Areas 2 and 4 indicating localised Romano-British activity in the vicinity of the Site. Pottery was recovered from heavily truncated linear features 1532 and 1738 in Area 4. Feature 1532 was cut by pit 1525, which contained two cattle skulls (in context 1527) at its base. The fills of these features were all naturally formed/silted, with no indication of deliberate backfilling. Romano-British pottery was also recovered from ditch 1716 in Area 2, which also contained Middle to Late Bronze Age pottery, but is thought at this stage to be intrusive. A single Roman coin was recovered from the top of natural feature, 1106. (1)
