Full Description

In preparation for infrastructure works on Ashford Road, excavations by MOLA identified a number of prehistoric features. It could not be conclusively determined that these finds were related to the Bronze Age barrow not far away but this may be the case. One potential possibility is that these finds represent a continuation of the Bronze Age barrows including a probable earthen mound and a ring ditch. There is potential for further excavation as if this was the case, it would be an area of high heritage significance.
125 pieces of flint from the Mesolithic/early Neolithihc were uncovered suggessting an even longer peiod of occupation on the site.
