Abstract/Summary
Excavation in advance of development. South end of site revealed potentially highly significant prehistoric earthen mound and a ring ditch, possibly linked to a known barrow 50m south of the site, Bronze Age.
Other results include: indications of Mesolithic/Neolithic human occupation, some post-medieval archaeology, and finally, 18th-19th century domestic objects such as a tobacco pipe indicating a possible link to Hollingbourne Union Workhouse at adjacent White Heath property. Very little of significance found in northern/central area of site.
