Summary

In February 2011 Oxford Archaeology carried out an archaeological evaluation for Isle of Sheppey Academy in advance of the construction of new school buildings. Ten trenches were excavated and archaeological finds were minimal.

Full Description

In February 2011 Oxford Archaeology carried out an archaeological evaluation for Isle of Sheppey Academy in advance of new school buildings. Ten trenches were excavated and archaeological finds were minimal. Three north-south aligned ditches were identified in Trench 6 but only two could be dated for certain; one Iron Age and one post-medieval. Finds included late Iron Age pottery sherds and a 19th century clay pipe (1).
