Full Description
Established in 1856. A watching brief in 2016 and 2017 identified scant evidence of walls and post-holes likely related to the old cattle market. Based on brick samples these features were generally dated to the 19th and 20th centuries. One glass bottle is of local interest, having been manufactured by the Globe Mineral Water Company, of 48 New Street, Ashford, operating between c. 1927 and 1934.(1)
