Abstract/Summary
Report on monitoring geotechnical test-pits and an archaeological watching brief carried out by Archaeology South-East at the Old Cattle Market, Elwick Place, Ashford, Kent in September 2016 and May and June 2017. The work uncovered scant evidence of walls and post-holes likely related to the old cattle market. Based on brick samples these features were generally dated to the 19th and 20th centuries. There was clearly a great deal of truncation and no intact buried subsoil horizons.
