Full Description

Timber pile 103 was probably associated with the discovery of two lines of piles that had been disturbed during demolition works. These lay on an approximate north-west to south-east alignment, parallel to that of the wharf and associated tramway to which they are likely associated. Unfortunately, they were not recorded archaeologically. While their overall function is not clear, it seems likely that they may have acted as part of a piled foundation, perhaps for the tramway or an associated structure. (1)
