Between the 18th and 20th of January 2001, four evaluatoin trenches were spread across the site at Cornfoots, Herne Bay in Kent for the archaeological evaluation, with attempts to target the remains of the 19th century Sea Street Farm. Two areas of watching brief were also monitered during the demolition phase of onsite works.

Each of the four trenches excavated measured 10m in length with trenches one, two and three orientated in a north-east to south-west direction and trench four in an east to west direction. Within trench one a wall was observed running acoss the north-eastern end of the trench likely to represent part of a 20th century building that had been built over a previous 19th century stable block. This trench also included various finds from the post medieval period.

Trenche two also contained a linear feature that also had some post-medieval ceramic building material and trench three also contained some post medieval pottery, CBM and animal bone with a small pit truncated by a linear feature. Pits and postholes were discovered in trench four. (1)
