Full Description
During an archaeological evaluation undertaken at Broadlees Bottom near Dover Castle ahead of the construction of a new car park, an underground structure built of orange red house bricks with a pebble concrete roof was uncovered. The structure was not fiully exposed but as seen measured some 2.3m (NE-SW) by a minimum of 0.28m (NW-SE) and it was at least 0.7m high. It was not clear whether it represente an underground military bunker of some kind ot a man-hole/inspection chamber associated with local drainage. The roof of the structure lay about 0.4-0.5m below the present ground level. - summarised from report (1)
