Full Description
The former site of Stone hut 2, which consisted of a two of early 20th century barracks, is located to the north west of the current site of the Regimental institute (NAFFI). These were constructed at the same time as the surviving Stone Hut 1, to the south west, but were demolished in the 1960’s when the military occupation of Dover Castle ceased.
They were similar in style to Stone Hut one and were likely constructed using similar materials (rough stone with ashlar quoins and dressings) and consisted of Two rectangular blocks aligned roughly north/south. The western was a single storey and the eastern two storey. (1-2) their location is clearly visible on the 1957 Ordnance Survey map of Dover. (3)
