Full Description

A range of worked flint and quartzite tools were found during archaeological invesitgations in the paddocks behind Forge Farm Cottages, Tunbridge Wells between 2014 and 2018. The reports state that the most significant is a Neolithic Discoidal Flint Knife, which may have been deliberately deposited. Other finds include scrapers, burins and choppers, "a small bladelet, pot-boiler fragments and other flint fragments that were either debitage or broken flint tools". (2, 3)

"A collection of quartzite fragments were recovered from one small test pit. Most were un-diagnostic but may have shown signs of striking. However at least one piece was clearly re-touched for what could be described as an end-scraper". (1) According to the 2019 review, finds from the site included "scrapers, awls, choppers/cleavers, chips, flakes and cores". (5)
