Full Description

An archaeological evaluation carried out in 2006 found limited evidence of prehistoric and Roman occupation and Anglo-Saxon and later agricultural landuse.

Prehistoric evidence consisted of a shallow late bronze age or iron age feature containing a singe sherd of late bronze age or iron age pottery. A pit containing late iron age / early Roman material was also found. This included pottery from AD 25 to 125, oyster shells and animal bone.

A shallow oval feature contained pottery dating to AD 70 to 200.

A number of linear and pit features were found dating to the Anglo-Saxon period as well as 28 medieval stakeholes and a number of linear and other post medieval features and a number of undated features.(1)
