Full Description
The Napoleonic works on the drop redoubt altered the earliest 18th century layout and created its pentagonal form. Aside from where the two faces have been added on the northern side much of the earlier fort was retained and the alignment of the south eastern and south western faces remained the same. By 1815 this for was largely complete and it was not until the mid 19th century that further changes were made and the caponiers were added. The buildings within the footprint of this Napoleonic layout include a guardroom, casemates and a magazine. (1-3)
