A phase of strip, map and sampling took place during the evaluation at the former substation by the Museum of London Archaeology and CgMs for the National Grid and Redrow homes ahead of proposed development. During this investigation a group of 8 features were uncovered in close proximity to one another, in the central part of the excavated area. They were irregular in shape and depth and may therefore represent natural tree throw/bowl features. However four of the pits contained finds including several struck flints (one pit contained two large convex scrapers)as well as small quantities of possibly mid to late Bronze Age pottery. (1-2)
