Summary

An archaeological excavation in 2013 found evidence of relatively undisturbed medieval to 19th century features. In the medieval period parts of the Roman masonry structure were robbed out. In the 13th century more extensive use of the site began in the form of ground beams, occupation deposits and an oven . Masonry structures were constructed from the 14th century onwards, some of which continued into the post medieval period. In the 17th/18th century brick buildings were constrcuted that may have related to the use of the site as a brewery known from documentary sources.
