Monument record TQ 92 NE 177 - Curvilinear bank, Court Lodge Road, Appledore
Summary
Curvilinear bank, Court Lodge Road, Appledore. Archaeological evaluation has shown the feature to be medieval in origin, consisting of a bank with two flanking ditches. It was probably related to the construction of the Court Lodge complex in the 14th century. The bank continued to be used in the post medieval period. Further west a slight feature was found in trench 6 that might relate to an earlier field system on site perhaps being related to a ditch in trench 3.
