Full Description

A group of 15 post holes representing the site of a rectangular post built structure of a Medieval date, were uncovered during excavations at The Elms in New Romney, Kent. The post holes were generally square/sub rectangular or oval in plan, all had single fills which contained pottery, bone, shell and CBM. The post holes form a rectangular pattern approximately 3m by 2m which may reporesent a post built structure such as a small shack or shed. The intercutting nature of some of the post holes may suggest that the structure was repaired on several occasions. A further group of post holes clusered around its southern wall may also be part of the same structure. (1)(information summarised from source)
