The mill probably dates from the late C18th and was converted into a pumping mill in 1881 with the formation of the Westerham Water Works Company Ltd. The mill ceased operating in 1907 and partially demolished in 1960. The mill may have been associated with a pond (TQ 45 SW 251) to the south east of the site.
