Full Description

The site was excavated by Pre-Construct Archaeology in October and November 2014, following an evaluation in October 2014. The excavation revealed evidence for archaeological activity at the site from the Mesolithic to the post-Saxon periods (TQ 57 SE 391, TQ 57 SE 392, TQ 57 SE 393). This took the form of flint working debris, and the creation of pits and post-holes at the site.

The post-Saxon features comprised a number of isolated pits. These pits contained no artefacts, resulting in difficulty assigning a date. They are suggested to be post-Saxon due to their stratigraphic relationship with other features at the site, however, no clear dating evidence has emerged for these features.

A post-Saxon colluvial deposit was also present at the site., measuring 0.53m in depth. (1)
