Full Description
An undated ditch at Hundreds Farm, Westgate-on-Sea was excavated in 2019. The ditch was orientated NW-SE and is thought to have formed a historic boundary. The ditch is thought to be earlier than the 19th century due to a different layout of land boundaries in maps of this period.
The ditch appears to be around 0.5m wide. It is present in at least 3 trenches, with a possible NE-SW return visible in another trench. No artefactual material was recovered from the ditch making it difficult to date precisely. (1)
Two pit features were also present at the site, these are thought to potentially relate and tree rooting and were dated to the post-medieval period.(2)
