Full Description

The probable medieval inhumation was located near Mitchinson's House. It comprised a single burial, with the body described as being treated with little respect, suggesting that it may represent an isolated and illegal inhumation, particularly as there is no formal cemetery known in the vicinity during this time. The burial was associated with several pits, and was dated by an overlying layer of loam dating to 1050-1150 AD. This information was retrieved from the background material of a desk-based assessment at the site. (1)
