Full Description

A possible prehistoric quarry and prehistoric ditches were excavated in 2022 at Manor Farm, Sittingbourne. One of the ditches was curvilinear in form, aligned NNE-SSW and measuring 0.56x0.34 (width and depth). The other two ditches were parallel and aligned NW-SE and measured between 0.76-3m in width and 0.14-0.47m in depth. The ditches contained 6 undiagnostic flint flakes.
Also excavated at the site was a quarry feature, the cut aligned N-S and measuring 2+m in length, 2.79-7.5m in width, and 0.38+m in depth. This feature contained material from the Bronze Age/Iron Age, however, this material may be residual and the feature may date from a later period. The material comprised 2 sherds of late Bronze Age to early Iron Age pottery, a possible flint core, and 5 pieces of burnt flint (1).
