Full Description
A pit, which cut earlier pit was seen during evaluation trenching carried out on a site off tolhill Street in Minster. This earlier pit cut a large natural solution hollow. The later pit had a single fill, which contained a small assemblage of residual prehistoric worked flint flakes, cbm (tile fragment), oyster shell and a few sherds of Romano-British pottery. The earlier pit, with single fill, contained a small assemblage of Romano-British pottery and burnt flint, which along with the palaeoenvironmental evidence from the deposit might indicate settlement waste.
