Post-medieval quarry and buildings (including the former Kent County Pavilion and the Canterbury Agricultural Hall) were excavated in 2015-2016 at Rhodaus Town.

Evidence for quarrying was represented by a large pit measuring 17.5x14x1.56m. The pit was interpreted as having potentially been used for clay/gravel extraction.

The other 25 pits at the site may have been linked to agricultural activity (although were partly used for the disposal of domestic refuse), alongside post-holes and soil layers excavated at the site. The post-holes may have been used as fence lines linked to agricultural activity at the site.
One of the pits contained "a timber box within which had been placed a glass bottle containing a handwritten message with the heading ‘Treasure’". The pits were also found to contain pottery dating between around 1600-1930 AD.

The buildings at the site were represented by a range of concrete footings, brick walls and associated with floors, service trenches, hardcore consolidation layers, and a brick lined well. Many of these elements are thought to be associated with the 1877 former Kent County Pavilion and the 1878 Canterbury Agricultural Hall, alongside later modifications to these structures and the surrounding area by the Canterbury Motor Company from 1902 onwards.

Other later features at the site included five air raid shelters (TR 15 NW 2668). (1)
