Full Description

A probable prehistoric pit was excavated at 60 Sturry Hill, Sturry during an evaluation in 2016. This comprised a sub-circular cut which extended 0.66m into the trench and measured around 0.8m in length and depth. The feature extended beyond the limits of the excavation, therefore its dimensions could not be fully recorded. Inclusions of flint and charcoal were recorded in its fill.
The feature has been interpreted as potentially representing a continuation of pit digging activity recorded at the site of 62 Sturry Hill (TR 16 SE 284). (1)
