Full Description

Ditches of uncertain date were visible as cropmarks on Kent HER r12photo960 XX-XXX-1990 (also available as EARTH.GOOGLE.COM XX-XXX-1990). The parallel east-west oriented ditches are aligned to modern property boundaries to the west and may represent the position of relatively recently removed fence or hedge lines. However, the northern-most feature appears to be aligned to a length of ditch that is in all likelihood part of the southern side of a later prehistoric enclosure (MKE76272).

Any relationship between these features and graves of Sarre early-Medieval cemetery (MKE6343) is unclear from the available aerial imagery, although it should be noted that most of the graves visible as cropmarks in this 1990 photography share the same orientation as the ditches. These features were mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet project in 2024.
