Full Description
A possible medieval rectilinear settlement enclosure within a larger rectilinear ditched compound mapped from aerial photographs - Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 25-MAY-2012 and EARTH.GOOGLE.CO, 3/2022 ACCESSED 20-MAY-2024 . This site appears as part of a rectilinear ditched enclosure, one of a number of similar settlement sites located just below the 5m contour at the mouth of the former Brooksend inlet (now silted up). The enclosures are spaced at between 100m and 150m apart along the shore. Small pits nearby that may be associated with these features are also visible as cropmarks. This site was mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet Landscape mapping project in 2024 (1-2).
