Full Description
An enclosure of Bronze Age/iron Age date was visible as a cropmark in HEA 29754/27 29-JUN-2015. It is in close proximity to at least two other enclosures and further fragmentary enclosures which, on morphological grounds, are likely of varied dates.
The sub-rectangular enclosure measures about 53.7m by 54.6m on plan, with an opening in its north-west side. A small pit, presumably contemporary, is visible as a cropmark in the interior. These features were mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet project in 2024. (1)
Cropmarks of a possible Iron Age or Roman sub-rectangular settlement or farmstead enclosure at TR 2659 6635 which is visible on aerial photographs taken in 2015 as part of the Historic England Reconnaissance Recording programme. It is a defined by a single ditch with a possible entrance to the north-west. It has two straight and two convex sides and curved corners and measures c. 65m in length. (2)
