The footprints of two buildings of Second World War date were visible as cropmarks in US/7PH/GP/LOC295 V 5005 20-APR-1944.

The parchmarks or footings of two parallel buildings are visible on ground now occupied by Manor Lea Road. The rectilinear buildings had small entrance porches to the east. The northern building measured about 43.6m by 10.7m on plan, the southern measured about 36m by 10m. These features probably represent where military huts stood. No buildings are visible in this location in aerial photography dating to 1941, and clearly the short-lived huts had been removed by April 1944. They formed part of the St Nicholas at Wade Defended Area that was established in 1940-41. They were mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet project in 2024. (1-2)
