Full Description
The cropmarks of several ring ditches and double ring ditches have been identified near St. Nicholas court. A linear cropmark feature is also present. It is thought that these features represent the remains of Bronze Age barrows. Right angled feature, possible enclosure; one double ring ditch and one small ring ditch; numerous ring ditches in area, see TR 26 NE 27,68. (1)
A double ring ditch forming part of a round barrow of Bronze Age date was visible as a cropmark in Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 14-APR-2015. In the interior, a centrally placed cropmark probably represents the location of a grave. These features were mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet project in 2024. Other features noted by authority (1) are now recorded separately. (2)
