Full Description
A large oblong pit or depression of uncertain date was visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs:NMR 962/73 09-JUL-1976. The feature is a sub-rectangular negative feature visible as a large dark cropmark 30m x 26m with an internal un-excavated/depressed platform of 11.4m x 17m occupying the northern half. This may be the remains of a medieval settlement site or localised extraction. This site was mapped as part of the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024. (1).
