Summary

The earthwork remains of two broad perpendicular ditches joined by a curving corner to the east of the present-day Moat Farm. The ditches are linked with a large pond to the north of the farm and may be associated with the moated site which gives the farm its name. A thinner ditch, probably a drain extends NNE from the corner of the main ditch. These features were mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.

Full Description

The earthwork remains of two broad perpendicular ditches joined by a curving corner seen at TQ 8097 7690 to the east of the present-day Moat Farm. The ditches are linked with a large pond to the north of the farm and may be associated with the moated site which gives the farm its name. A thinner ditch, probably a drain extends NNE from the corner of the main ditch. These features were mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.
