Monument record TQ 87 NW 1221 - Croprmark traces of a possible incomplete rectilinear enclosure abutting a bank or metalled linear feature, both of uncertain date
Summary
Croprmark traces of a possible incomplete rectilinear enclosure abutting a bank or metalled linear feature, both of uncertain date and centred at TQ 8351 7758. The possible enclosure appears as an L-shaped ditch with a right angle corner. The visible sides measure 23m and 24m in length. The E-W ditch appears to terminate at the second linear feature which is aligned N-S and has the appearance of a levelled broad wall or metalled surface like a track of road. This can be traced for c.38m before curving to the NE before disappearing at the edge of the field. It is not certain that these two features are contemporary or associated with one another. They were both mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. (1)
