Full Description

The positions of gun emplacements of Second World War date were seen as structures and soilmarks in RAF/HLA/564 V 6045 01-JUN-1942. The probable light anti-aircraft battery comprised three guns on the south side linked by trackways to a central position, with two further gun emplacements on the north side already out of use at the time of this photograph. The site was destroyed by the construction of RAF Manston's crash runway in 1943-44 and was recorded as demolished structures in Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 07-APR-2021. The features were mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet project in 2024. (1-2 )
